Therapy for Adults in Midlife

Midlife can bring a quiet question: is this the life I want for the next twenty years? Therapy is a place to ask it honestly.

Adults in Midlife

When the Middle Gets Crowded

Many adults between their late thirties and early sixties are carrying more than at any other time: careers, marriages, children who are growing up or leaving, parents who need more help, and health that asks for more attention. There is often little room left to notice how you are doing.

It is common for long-held patterns to surface here. The conflict style that worked for years stops working. A loss hits harder than expected. A change you have wanted for a long time finally feels urgent.

What Adults in Midlife Often Bring

  • Career change, burnout or closing one chapter to start another
  • Marriage and long-term relationship strain
  • Grief for parents, friends or the life you expected
  • Anxiety and depression that have been building for years
  • An empty nest and a new question about identity

How Crystal Works

Crystal believes you are the expert of your own life, and her role is to meet you where you are. Her mission is to help people find methods that help them become the person they want to be. For many adults in midlife, that means making deliberate choices instead of running on autopilot. Work may draw from CBT, ACT, IFS parts work and psychodynamic approaches, depending on your goals.

Caring for Everyone at Once

Many adults in midlife are caring for children and aging parents at the same time. The logistics alone can be exhausting: appointments, school schedules, calls with doctors and hard money conversations. Under the logistics there are often feelings that never get any airtime, like grief for a parent who is changing or worry about what the next decade holds.

Therapy gives those feelings somewhere to go, so you are not carrying all of them alone.

Fitting Therapy Into a Full Life

Because sessions are held by secure telehealth, you can meet from home or from a private office during a break, anywhere in Arizona or Oregon. After a free consultation of about 15 minutes and an intake, individual sessions are $200 and couple sessions are $250. The full list of rates is on the Fees page.

How to Begin

A free consultation of about 15 minutes comes first. Then an intake session, where the goals for treatment are set. After that, sessions are usually weekly for the first 6 to 8 weeks, then every 2, 3 or 4 weeks, and never less than once a month.
