Life Transitions

Therapy for Life Transitions

When the shape of your life changes, even a change you chose can leave you unsteady. Therapy gives you room to sort through it, wherever you are in Arizona or Oregon.

Life Transitions

What a Transition Can Stir Up

A new job or the end of one. A move. A relationship that begins, ends or changes shape. A child leaving home. A business you are closing so you can start something new. Transitions ask you to let go of one version of your life before the next one feels solid.

It is common to feel relief and grief at the same time, or to feel lost even when everything looks fine from the outside. Old worries can get louder, sleep can slip, and small decisions can suddenly feel heavy.

How Therapy Can Help

Transition is one of the three concerns Crystal most often sees people bring to therapy, alongside anxiety and depression. Her mission is to help people find methods that help them become the person they want to be and have the life they want. In a season of change, that often means naming what you are losing, getting clear on what matters to you now, and choosing the next step at a pace you can manage.

Depending on your goals, the work may draw from approaches in Crystal's training such as CBT, ACT and mindfulness-based therapy.

Signs It Might Be Time to Talk

  • You feel stuck between the life you had and the one you want
  • A change you wanted is bringing more anxiety than you expected
  • You keep replaying a decision you cannot undo
  • The people around you have moved on, and you have not

What Sessions Can Focus On

  • Naming what you are leaving behind, including the parts you will miss
  • Sorting out which worries belong to this change and which are older
  • Making one decision at a time instead of all of them at once
  • Rebuilding routines, sleep and connection after a move or a loss
  • Noticing who you are becoming, not only who you used to be

Change Without a Road Map

Most transitions come without instructions. There is no class for becoming an empty nester, starting over after a divorce or leaving a career you spent years building. Therapy offers a place to slow down and think out loud with someone who is not part of the change, so you can hear yourself more clearly.

Telehealth helps here too. When life is already in motion, meeting from home or from a private spot at work means one less thing to rearrange. Rates are listed on the Fees page: $200 for an individual session after a $250 intake.

How to Begin

A free consultation of about 15 minutes comes first. Then an intake session, where the goals for treatment are set. After that, sessions are usually weekly for the first 6 to 8 weeks, then every 2, 3 or 4 weeks, and never less than once a month.

Sessions are held by secure telehealth for people located in Arizona or Oregon.
