How Much Does Therapy Cost in Arizona Without Insurance?

If you are paying for therapy yourself, it helps to know the numbers before you reach out. Here is what self-pay therapy with Find Your Blessings costs, and what shapes the total.

Questions People Ask

Published Rates

  • Individual intake: $250
  • Individual session: $200
  • Individual session, 30 minutes: $125
  • Couple or family intake: $300
  • Couple or family session: $250
  • Consultation: free, about 15 minutes

Why the First Session Costs More

The intake is the evaluation that sets up everything that follows. Crystal makes sure she understands what you are coming for and sets the goals for treatment. Depending on how much paperwork is completed ahead of time, it can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours. Regular sessions after that are the ongoing work.

What Shapes Your Total

The biggest factor is how often you meet. Sessions are usually weekly for the first 6 to 8 weeks, then every 2, 3 or 4 weeks, and never less than once a month. So the early weeks cost the most, and the monthly total usually comes down as sessions spread out.

Crystal describes $200 as about the normal private-pay rate for an individual session in Arizona.

Why Some People Choose Self-Pay

Paying privately means your care is shaped by you and your therapist, not by what an insurance plan will approve. Find Your Blessings is a self-pay practice. If you have out-of-network benefits, a superbill is available on request, and you can submit it to your plan for possible reimbursement.

A Worked Example

Here is how the numbers can add up for individual therapy, using the published rates. If you meet weekly for the first eight weeks, with the intake as the first of those sessions, the first two months total $1,650: one $250 intake plus seven $200 sessions. If sessions then move to every two weeks, that is about $400 a month. At once a month, it is $200.

For couples or families, the same pattern with a $300 intake and $250 sessions comes to $2,050 for the first eight weeks.
