Questions People Ask

How Often Should I Go to Therapy?

There is no single right answer for everyone, but there is a rhythm that tends to work. Here is how Crystal Boyd approaches it, and why.

Questions People Ask

The Rhythm at Find Your Blessings

  • Weekly for the first 6 to 8 weeks
  • Then every 2, 3 or 4 weeks, depending on your needs
  • Never less than once a month

Why Weekly at First

Early on, Crystal is getting to know you: your history, your patterns, what helps and what does not. Meeting every week builds trust and momentum, and it gives you enough support to try new things between sessions.

Why It Spreads Out

Once the foundation is there, many people do well with more time between sessions to practice what they are learning. When things are going well, the question is not whether you feel good. It is where there is still room to grow, and that guides how often you meet.

Why Not Less Than Monthly

Much longer gaps make it hard to keep the thread of the work. Crystal asks clients to commit to at least one session a month so therapy stays useful rather than turning into occasional catch-ups.

What Each Rhythm Costs

  • Weekly: $200 per individual session, so four or five sessions a month
  • Every two weeks: about two sessions, or $400, a month
  • Every four weeks: one session, or $200, a month
  • Couple and family sessions follow the same rhythm at $250 each

Signs It May Be Time to Change the Rhythm

  • You are using what you learn between sessions without much prompting
  • Sessions feel more like check-ins than new work
  • A new stressor has shown up and you want more support again
  • You have had a setback and want to meet more often for a while

Changing Pace Together

Changes in rhythm are talked through together, never decided for you. Moving back to weekly for a stretch is not a failure. It is using therapy the way it is meant to be used.

Where Sessions Happen

All sessions are held by secure telehealth for people located in Arizona or Oregon, which makes a weekly rhythm easier to keep. There is no commute to add to your week, only a private space and a steady connection.
